Geithner: IMF chief should command broadest basis of support

The U.S. says it will soon weigh in on its pick for the top job in global finance. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner says France's Christine Lagarde and Mexico's Agustin Carstens are both credible candidates, but the one who takes the helm must be not only experienced, but have broad support.

Timothy Geithner, U.S. Treasury Secretary said "You can look at this and be much more confident that you will have an open process where people will look for candidates, not just as the most experienced in technical capacity, but who can command the broadest basis of support."
