Russian envoy to Libya to mediate

Mikhail Margelov Russian presidential envoy on African affairs, said Saturday he would visit Libya on Monday to meet with representatives of the opposition.

He told the Interfax news agency said Russian President Dmitry Medvedev in the order, he will meet with some opposition parties and other political forces in Benghazi, Libya to discuss the situation on the problem.

Margelov said that his visit will discuss possible ways out of conflict and ways to prevent a humanitarian disaster.

He would not rule out the Tripoli too, if he gets President Dmitry Medvedev ordered that the special envoy.

Russian diplomat reiterated that the Kremlin supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Libya and the Arab world, Africa and the international community needs a united and democratic Libya.

Medvedev told the Group of Eight in Deauville, France, last week, he had decided to send his special envoy Margelov Benghazi summit press conference.
