An earthquake with magnitude of 5.7 jolted Papua in eastern parts of Indonesia on Sunday, the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency reported here.
The quake hit at 13:47 p.m. Jakarta time (0647 GMT) with epicenter at 162 km southwest Jayapura of Papua and with the depth at 23 km, an official of the agency told Xinhua by phone.
The USGS also reported on its website that the quake was at 5.7 magnitude.
There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
Indonesia sits on a vulnerable quake-hit zone so called the Pacific Ring of Fire, where two continental plates meet that frequently cause seismic and volcanic movements.
