Indonesian and Russian marine forces held a joint drill on Friday aimed at sharing techniques and experiences in combating pirates, local media reported.
The joint exercise was conducted in Indonesia's naval base in Makassar, South Sulawesi province, marines from both countries demonstrated military techniques in paralyzing pirates occupying ships and taking hostages.
The joint drill involved marines of a Russian warship, Admiral Panteyeyev, that docked in Makassar a few days ago.
