European Council president reiterates Gaddafi "must go"

 President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy renewed his call here Thurday that Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi "must go."
Van Rompuy made the remarks during a joint press conference with President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso on the sidelines of the Group of Eight (G8) summit, which is scheduled to start later on Thursday.
Despite of intensified political and military aid from western sympathisers, Libya rebels' fight against the country's leader Gaddafi sees no quick end yet since western coalition force intervened in March.
Since the beginning of this week, NATO planes have launched a series of air attacks on Libya's capital, Tripoli.
U.S. senior diplomat visiting Libya recently announced that Libya rebels has accepted the invitation to open representative office in Washington; while France and Britain prepared to escalate air strike by deployment of attack helicopter.
