At least 28 people have been killed in an explosion at an arms storage facility in Yemen's capital, Sanaa.
The blast occurred during an overnight exchange of gunfire. Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh ordered the arrest of the opposition tribal leader Sadiq al-Ahmar as well as his brothers. Ahmar responded by urging Arab countries to pressure Saleh to hand over power. According to Ahmar, mediation to end the clashes has ended and fighting is still ongoing near the airport.
Meanwhile, the Yemeni government says the headquarters of an opposition TV station in the city has also been destroyed.
Also on Thursday, a suspected bomb blast wounded at least seven people including a police officer in the Turkish city of Istanbul. The blast occurred near a bus station during rush hour.
