Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has directed the cabinet ministers to remain on their posts.
Minister of Information and Communications Labaran Maku said this to reporters in Abuja after Wednesday's valedictory session of the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
The FEC centered its discussions on the review of the activities of government in the past few years while members took turns to appreciate the President for the rare privilege offered them to serve the country, Maku said.
"The last council meeting has been held but the executive council remains, it has not been dissolved," the minister told reporters.
"This is the last session of the Federal Executive Council in this dispensation and council reviewed the running of government in the past few years," he said.
The minister said some other issues discussed at the meeting could not be disclosed at the press conference.
He also pointed out that in the opinion of the council, President Jonathan has continued to initiate transformation programs whose benefits may not be long in coming as the nation, under his leadership, has regained its hitherto lost glory.
He added that President Jonathan thanked the out-going council members for their commitment, loyalty and perseverance in national service.
