Police Chief Pol Gen Wichean Potephosree said Sunday the 123 were portion from the 2,224 candidates of 20 political parties who had registered their candidacy using the Election Commission.
The Royal Thai Police Workplace had assigned police to present them with protection as requested, he stated.
These police officers had been instructed to be strictly neutral. If there were complaints filed against them over neutrality, they would face both disciplinary and criminal investigations, the police chief said.
Apart from individual candidates, police were also providing security for all campaign rallies.
On Saturday, major opposition Pheu Thai Party's No 1 party list candidate Yingluck Shinawatra was attacked with rotten eggs in a campaign rally. Pol Gen Wichean mentioned he did not believe it was an indication that the scenario would turn violent because police had conducted searches for weapons wherever a rally was held.
There has so far been reports of 84 campaign indicators of political parties getting been vandalised and 269 other folks destroyed, he stated.
Thailand's common election is set on July three soon after Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva dissolved the Residence of representatives early May.
