Turkey condemned a suicide bombing in northern Afghanistan on Saturday

Turkey condemned a suicide bombing in northern Afghanistan on Saturday that bring about seven deaths, saying it was a "heinous attack," regional media reported Monday.

"This heinous attack targeted efforts to ensure peace and stability within the nation," the Anatolia news agency cited a Turkish Foreign Ministry statement as saying.

The ministry expressed profound sorrow for the deaths and provided condolences to these who lost their beloved ones in the attack, based on the report.

"Afghan people, who have been living face to face with wars, clashes and destruction for the final three decades, deserve peace and stability. We think that Afghan people will give one of the most determined and meaningful response to such acts of terror by strengthening their unity and solidarity," the statement stated.

A suicide bomber targeted a meeting of high ranking Afghan and NATO-led forces officials in Afghanistan's northern Takhar province Saturday, leaving seven men and women dead and ten other folks injured, including provincial governor Abdul Jabbar Taqwa who miraculously survived.
