Italy took "the right approach" in beating Estonia 3-0, said striker Giampaolo Pazzini following the win at home on Friday.
"Tonight there were plenty of chances, as we were very determined from the start and took the right approach," he said.
"It wasn't easy, as don't forget in Estonia it was a real battle and we only won 2-1 at the end with two set plays."
The Azzurri have gone five points clear at the top of Euro 2012 qualifying Group C with a game to spare.
Giuseppe Rossi and Antonio Cassano scored before Pazzini added a third at the Stadio Braglia in Modena.
"I am happy to be here and to give a hand to this team. This is Italy, so there's bound to be a lot of competition for places," he said after coming off the bench to score the third goal after break.
"We concluded the campaign on a high with a victory that we needed.
"We were happy to see a packed and enthusiastic stadium, including during training, as that always helps morale.
"I was very eager to do well, as it was the last game of qualifying for this season. I knew from yesterday that I was going to start from the bench, but I was not upset," he said.
