Spanish King Juan Carlos was hospitalized on Friday for a minor knee operation.
The 73-year-old king will undergo the operation on his right knee to solve mobility problems caused by "old sporting injuries," which the Royal Palace said "complicate his usual physical activity."
King Carlos is expected to remain in hospital for three days before completing his rehabilitation outside of the capital, probably in Mallorca where he usually spends his summers.
It is the second operation that the king has undergone in the past 15 months, although this surgery is much less serious than that he had in April 2010 to remove a benign nodule from his right lung.
