he total revenues of Macao's gaming sector for May this year amounted to 24.3 billion patacas (3.03 billion U.S. dollars), reaching an all-time high, according to the figures released on Wednesday by the city's Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau.
It was the third time for Macao's monthly revenues for the gaming sector to exceed 2.5 billion dollars. Total revenues for May increased by 18 percent over the previous month, when monthly revenue of Macao's gaming sector reached 20.5 billion patacas (2. 56 billion U.S. dollars).
The revenues for May 2011 increased by 42.4 percent over the same period of the previous year, the figures also indicated.
As for the first five months of this year, the figures increased by 43 percent year-on-year to 103.3 billion patacas (12. 9 billion dollars), according to the Bureau.
Being the only place in China where gambling is legal, there were 33 casinos with 4,853 gaming tables and 13,787 slot machines in Macao by the end of March this year, according to official figures.
