Switzerland plans auction of wireless spectrum early 2012

Swiss Federal Communications Commission (ComCom), announced the auction through a single release of all vacancies within the next few years, the wireless spectrum.

Swiss Federal Communications Commission has been launched in November 2010 the corresponding tender. Since then, the Committee completed the requirements of various interested companies review all changes. It will amend its tender some of the issues and the application to extend the deadline for the auction in September this year.

The auction will be held in the first quarter of 2012.

Swiss Federal Communications Commission said the proposed phases of private persons will increase the complexity of spectrum allocation, and will therefore increase the uncertainty. In addition, the regulators also said that spectrum allocation will be reduced in stages operators buy new spectrum and the probability of entering the market.

However, the Swiss Federal Communications Commission will focus on the potential auction of some of the requirements applicants. Whether the existing holders of spectrum pictures (In & Phone, Orange, Sunrise and Swisscom), or any hope that the new operators to participate in the auction, must be in the September 30 to submit applications to the regulatory authorities.
