Palestinian government medical workers went on a partial strike Wednesday, demanding improvement in wages.

Palestinian Physicians Syndicate referred to as for the strike, which took location in the West Bank for four hours. The medical workers, such as doctors and nurses, will also suspend their work for one more four hours Thursday.

The workers threatened to escalate their protests and decline from going to their work following the middle of this month if their demands were not met.

The strike stopped outpatient clinics in all government hospitals within the West Bank, but work remained ongoing in some crucial departments like emergencies and those searching right after cancer patients.

The Palestinian National Authority, which controls the West Bank, suffers from a financial deficit estimated at 1 billion U.S. dollars. The deficit comes as the PNA is about to complete a two- year plan to upgrade national institution for feasible declaration of a Palestinian state.
