Palestinians to begin efforts to join UN in July: official

The Palestinian leadership will start procedures to request a membership within the United Nations in July, an official mentioned Sunday.

Saeb Erekat, a member of the PLO's Executive Committee, stated the Palestinians will coordinate with Arab states to move for the UN following the middle of July.

Speaking to Voice of Palestine radio from Doha, Erekat mentioned that the Arab states will arrange with members from the International Quartet, in particular the Usa, "to stay away from any veto on the Palestinian demand" to join the UN.
