Security forces backed with tanks deployed in Homs province

Security forces backed with tanks had been deployed on Sunday in town of Talbisa and al-Rastan in the third Syrian province of Homs amid news on scores of people killed and wounded, the pan-Arab al-Jazeera reported.

The security forces stormed the two restive towns to quell anti- government protests there, al-Jazeera cited witnesses as saying.

Meanwhile, Syrian human rights groups say 12 citizens have already been killed in Friday's protests dubbed by activists as "Friday of Property Protectors" that swept the majority of places in Syria.

Unprecedented anti-government demonstrations erupted in the southern city of Daraa in mid-March and extended to most of Syrian cities which includes the capital Damascus.

Far more than 1,100 folks have been killed and 10,000 others arrested due to the fact the pro-change protests began, as outlined by rights groups. Syrian authorities stated 500 soldiers, security forces and police have already been killed by "armed terrorist gangs" backed by " foreign agitators".
