Shanghai Cooperation Organization, China has pledged to seek a good start for the new decade

China promised on Wednesday as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in the next decade, because it's rotating presidency in mid-June in the development of a good start.

"In the coming year, we will maintain close communication with all other Member States to design, planning and organizing events. We will make Shanghai Cooperation Organization ideas and initiatives to promote practical cooperation between Member States," Foreign Minister Assistant Cheng Guoping Forum on Wednesday told the Orchid Pavilion.

As the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana, for a week to leave the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, Lanting forum attracted about 200 Chinese officials, academics, business executives and foreign diplomats.

In his speech entitled "The great prospects for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization," Zheng said the upcoming summit in Astana will be a historic event that will mark the tenth anniversary of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the connection between past and future.

Founded in 2001 in Shanghai, the regional organization groups China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

China will hold office until May 2012 from 6 month rotating presidency of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Astana summit.

Cheng recalled the Shanghai Cooperation Organization course of the past 10 years, saying it has "essential in Eurasia, constructive force" and the regional cooperation organization, its members can trust and rely on.

Process due to the success story of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and its adhering to the "Shanghai Spirit", which contains the diverse civilizations and seeking common development and mutual trust, mutual benefit, equality, consultation, respect for basic principles.
"Choice, we set up such an organization a decade ago is correct, our roads specified in its development is feasible and the objective pursued by the organization is correct," Cheng said.

Looking to the future, Cheng said that today's international and regional situation complicated than ten years ago, as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization was faced with consolidation of regional security and promoting common development task more difficult.

Members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization to continue to build political mutual trust, strengthen their capacity to cope with various challenges.

He urged the organization to deepen security cooperation, strengthen its ability to resist a real threat.

Shanghai Cooperation Organization should promote pragmatic cooperation and enhance sustainable development in all aspects of capacity, Cheng said.

He also proposed to strengthen people to people and cultural exchanges and carry forward traditional friendship, to future generations.

As a founding member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, China has always attached importance to and take a high priority in the organization, actively involved, Cheng said.

"China's policy on the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is a strategic choice, in the common interests of all Member States to make and will not change, because at any given time a single event," Zheng said.

Some scholars also made a statement at the meeting.

Chinese Foreign Ministry launched in December last year, Chinese officials at the Orchid Pavilion forum, academics and social organizations to discuss international issues and China's foreign policy platform.
