Iranian anti-narcotics police smashed a major international drug trafficking syndicate

 Iranian anti-drug police have busted a major international gang involved in smuggling synthetic narcotics in Tehran, the local satellite Press Tv reported on Monday.

"The main international gang smuggling industrial drugs was identified and broken up in Tehran after 4 months of intelligence work," General Hamid-Reza Hosseinabadi, the head of Iran's anti-drug police, was quoted as saying.

"More than 270 kilograms of crystal has been confiscated from the gang," said Hosseinabadi on Monday.

"In coordinated police operations, a number of groups of smugglers had been arrested ... and the international industrial drug trafficking ring was smashed," he added.

"The members of this network produced industrial narcotics in residence laboratories, and shipped them to Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand inside the type of milk ... consignments," he stated based on the report.

Hosseinabadi stated that the drug ring's affiliated networks in Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand have also been identified in cooperation with police in those countries, and fifteen individuals working closely with the gang have also been arrested in Tehran, stated the report.
