Samsung asks court to force Apple to disclose new iPhone, iPad models

Samsung Electronics has asked a U.S. court to force Apple Inc to disclose iPhone and iPad models under development in the latest round of an ongoing patent and trademark lawsuit, media reports said Tuesday.
Samsung must see the final versions of the iPhone and iPad to “evaluate whether a likelihood of confusion exists” between Samsung and Apple products likely go on sale about the same time, according to documents filed Friday by Samsung in San Jose, California, federal court. Samsung is asking Apple to turn over the samples by June 13.
Samsung’s request is part of a legal dispute between the two companies, which began in April when Apple claimed Samsung’s Galaxy products “slavishly” copied iPad and iPhone technology and design.
Earlier this month, U.S. District Court Judge Lucy Koh ordered Samsung to give Apple copies of several models of its Galaxy mobile phones and tablets, as well as other products.
Samsung declined to comment, and Apple could not be immediately reached for comment on Monday.
Samsung's Galaxy products use Google's Android operating system, which directly competes with Apple's mobile software.
