The total number of F-15K fighter jets in South Korea has reached 49 with the latest purchase of two new ones, local reports said Tuesday.
Boeing, a U.S. aircraft manufacturer, reportedly delivered Monday F-15K 49 and F-15K 50 to an air base in the city of Daegu.
The Air Force plans to acquire 21 F-15K Slam Eagle jets as part of its fighter jet modernization project, according to Yonhap News Agency.
Boeing is scheduled to deliver the remaining aircraft under the contract in the first half of 2012.
South Korea had bought 40 fighter jets under a similar procurement plan completed in 2008, but one of them crashed in an accident in 2006.
