Jordan's MPs condemn Israeli Knesset member's statement as "racist, provocative"

Jordan's Lower House on Thursday condemned recent statement by Israeli Knesset member Arye Eldad as racist, provocative and radical

"We followed recent repeated statements by the radical Knesset member who always seeks to harm Jordan. We call on the government to take a firm position against these harmful statements to Jordan and its people," the 120-member Lower House said in a statement Thursday

On the occasion of Jordan's Independence Day, the right-wing Israeli MP tried to enter the Jordanian embassy in Tel Aviv last week and submit a petition, calling for making Jordan the homeland for Palestinians, and his entry was rejected, according to media reports.

"Eldad's statement will never make Jordan stop its efforts and calls for creating a Palestinian state on the Palestinian national soil with Jerusalem as its capital. The Palestinian issue is the Arabs' top issue," said the statement.
