Barack Obama supports Ban Ki-moon on the second five years, as the chief long-term bid

Barack Obama supports Ban Ki-moon on the second five years, as the chief long-term bid, said Tuesday the White House.

"President Obama welcomed the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon announced that he will run for re-election, and U.S. support for his election,"the White House said in a statement.

The White House said that under the leadership of Ban Ki-moon, the United Nations has played in responding to crises and challenges in global key role.

It said that Ban Ki-moon has made important reforms, such as increased employment of women in senior positions, and suggested that budget cuts at the United Nations.

Ban Ki-moon to succeed five-year term in January 2007, December 31 at the end of this year, Kofi Annan. For a successful re-election, the 66-year-old former South Korean foreign minister to wait to get all five permanent members of UN Security Council support - Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States.

France and China have expressed their Ban Ki-moon as the new bid for support.
