FAO says food prices are likely to remain high in 2011, 2012

High and volatile prices of agricultural products are likely to win the rest of this year 2012, a United Nations report said here today.

According to the latest biannual Food Outlook report by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), worn on the inventory and the most substantial increase in crop yield only slightly the overall issue of continued strong price reasons.

Current prospects for cereals in 2011 point to a harvest of 2,315 million tonnes, a 3.5 percent increase over 2010, but a one percent drop over 2009.

Global wheat production is estimated at 3.2 up to last year's cuts, mainly reflecting increased production in the Russian Federation.

The next few months will be to decide how the main crops fare, this year's key, the report said.

According to the report, although the prospects are encouraging, such as Russia and Ukraine, some countries, weather conditions, with too little, in some cases, too much rain, it would undermine the European and North American corn and wheat production.
