Western Australian Prime Minister went to Europe for the CHOGM, economic and trade talks

West Australian Premier Colin Barnett will travel to London to go over arrangements for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) within the state capital of Perth in October, the Government of Western Australia ( WA) mentioned on Monday.

Barnett will also go to Dubai and Brussels to go over trade and investment opportunities in WA with senior government and organization leaders, the WA government stated inside a statement.

In London, the Premier will meet Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II to talk about arrangements for CHOGM and will deliver the annual Menzies Lecture at the Menzies Institute of Australian Studies, King's College London.

The United Kingdom (UK) is Australia's second biggest source of foreign direct investment and WA can be a key global resources economic system destination for UK investment and business, having a strong British component in significant resource firms, like BP, Shell, Rio and BHP Billiton.

According to the WA government, WA's trade with all the UK accounted for 45 percent of Australian/UK trade in 2010, totaling 6.4 billion AU dollars (six.84 billion U.S. dollars).

Trade with all the United Arab Emirates was worth a lot more than 2.three billion AU dollars (two.46 U.S. dollars) in 2010 along with the Emirates are a important customer for Western Australian agricultural products and alumina.

Barnett said there had been important opportunities for co-operation in between Emirati and WA businesses in supporting advancement on the Indian Ocean Rim.

"I will talk to senior European Commission officials about Western Australia's possible as an energy supplier, and about our shared interests in removing trade barriers," the Premier said in the statement.

"I will also highlight opportunities for scientific co- operation in activities including the Square Kilometer Array and improvement of choice power," he said.

The Premier will leave Perth on Wednesday, June 1 and return on Sunday, June 12, accompanied by his wife Lyn and two staff members.
