Yemen Taiz forces killed at least 14 protesters staged a sit-in RAID

 At least 14 anti-government protesters had been killed and hundreds of other folks were injured by gunshots and tear gas when Yemeni security forces and armed government backers attacked a four-month-long sit-in inside the second biggest city of Taiz overnight, medical doctors said Monday.

"As numerous as 14 bodies of protesters lay within the makeshift hospital and hundreds of others are receiving therapy for injuries of gunshots, knifes, batons and tear gas right after the security forces and armed government backers broke into the sit-in square following a 10-hour attack overnight," a medical doctor told Xinhua.

He said that a lot of people who had been seriously injured were sent to private hospitals and also the death toll was expected to increase.

Meanwhile, witnesses mentioned the armed government supporters set the tents of the protesters on fire as the security forces were now stationed in the square after they dispersed the protesters at dawn.

Considering that February, Yemen's main cities have faced virtually every day clashes among police forces and anti-government protesters who demand an end for the 33-year rule of President Ali Abdullah Saleh, which has resulted in hundreds of deaths.

The impoverished Arab nation has already been functioning on a ceasefire to finish a five-day tribe rebellion within the capital Sanaa that killed at least 127 individuals, as government forces have been shelling militants of the Yemen-based al-Qaida wing following they took more than the southern troubled province of Abyan on Saturday.
