Atletico director Gil: Aguero will not join Real Madrid

Atletico Madrid, Director General, Miguel Angel Gil, says it is impossible that the club' s Argentinean striker Sergio 'Kun' Aguero will leave the club to play for local rivals Real Madrid.

Aguero dropped a bombshell on Monday night when he said that he wanted to leave Atletico in order to progress in his career.

That announcement immediately sparked speculation as to the possible destination of the 22 year-old with Manchester City and Chelsea being cited as being interested, along with Real Madrid.

Aguero has a 45 million Euro buyout clause on his contract, but speaking on Radio Marca, Gil commented that in the case of Real Madrid making a move for the player, that figure would be higher.

"There is only one way he can leave the club and that is if someone pays the recession clause on his contract and that that team is not Real Madrid. They are the only club that is a limited destination," said Gil.

"It is impossible that Aguero will play for Real Madrid next season. He is not going to go to Real Madrid and we all hope he is still going to stay at Atletico. (Real Madrid President) Florentino Perez has told me that there is no way he is going to pay the buyout clause and we are not going to negotiate a sale, so it is impossible. I am confident that Florentino is not going to carry out a hostile operation against us," said the Atletico Madrid Director.

Gil added that he had heard nothing from either Manchester City or Chelsea, saying the only club that had openly expressed interest was the Italian side Juventus, but he added that should Aguero leave Atletico, it would be under one condition.

"We will put an important economic clause in the contract to ensure that he doesn't go to Real Madrid afterwards," he concluded.
