Hundreds of protesters hit Syrian cities for reform

Hundreds of protesters hit the streets in various Syrian cities on Friday calling for reform, reported Syrian official SANA news agency.
The police and security forces came under attack by some protestors in the central province of Homs and northern provinces of Idleb, Hasaka and Deir Ez-Zour, leaving seven policemen injured, reported SANA.
Hussain Arnous, governor of Deir al-Zour, was quoted by SANA as saying that some protestors used stones and knives against police and security forces who were present to maintain security and caused the injuries.
Syria has been in unrest since mid March with protests calling for reforms, and some protests turned violent, resulting in hundreds of casualties among security forces and civilians.
Syria has blamed the crisis on armed Islamic extremist groups, accusing them taking advantage of the situation to topple the regime.
