President of Brazil says deforestation should not be encouraged

President of Brazil Dilma Rousseff reiterated Tuesday that she does not intend to take any action, which will encourage deforestation.

At a meeting to discuss the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development held in Rio next year's preparatory work, the President of Brazil said that she would continue her promise not to negotiate deforesters, which refers to the reform bill of the country's current forest law .

The bill the House of Representatives and the Senate has been voting to wait for now, grants unrestricted felling of protected areas forgive the farmers in their land.

The bill's supporters claim that this will help increase the production of small farmers, while opponents say the real problem is the inefficient agricultural sector in Brazil, especially in animal husbandry. It occupies more land than necessary, which can be used to produce vegetables and cereals.

This is not the first time Rousseff said that she would never compromise on the issue of deforestation. Rule changes in the forest before the House vote, she publicly said she will veto any of the provisions of the bill expected to deforesters pardon.
