By Hong Kong Customs seized smuggled cigarettes have all been destroyed, can no longer be retrieved, the city's Acting Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau Julia Leung said on Wednesday.

Leung told the local members of Congress on Wednesday confiscated cigarettes not sold since 1999. They were confiscated, the court order, or not a claim under the law, under the Dutiable Commodities Ordinance.

2002 to April this year, the department has seized 993 million cigarettes, which eighty-five percent destroyed in the absence of any auction. Destroyed, the rest is waiting.
