ASEAN has become South Korea's second largest trading partner

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) has become the second biggest trade partner of South Korea 4 years soon after a bilateral free trade agreement took effect, the foreign ministry said Tuesday.

Two-way trade volume among the two totalled 106.8 billion U.S. dollars as of Might this year, second highest only to China, in accordance with the ministry.

Before the agreement that went into effect in June 2007, ASEAN, comprising ten countries, was South Korea's fifth largest trade partner.

South Korea is at present in search of to forge separate bilateral no cost trade pacts with Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia to additional expand trade relations.
