The pacts were signed in presence of Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who arrived within the Indian capital Tuesday morning and held talks on bilateral, regional and international issues.
"We discussed the developments in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Terrorism is a severe challenge which will need to be fought on all fronts and not selectively," Singh told the media soon after talks.
When asked about the use of nuclear energy, Singh stated that every effort could be made to ensure that all safety norms and utilization of nuclear energy are world class.
"Today our nuclear energy is 3 percent of our total energy generation. Our capacity is less than five,000 MW. We wish to raise it to 20,000 MW by the year 2020," the Indian Prime Minister stated.
