IDC Global PC shipments this year growth rate from 7% to 4.2%

Market research firm IDC on Tuesday the global PC shipments in 2011 expected to grow from its original forecast of 7% to 4.2%, mainly because Japan has not recovered to the level before the earthquake in March, and the rate of U.S. economic recovery is still slow.

As PC sales slow down, IDC also the global semiconductor industry revenue growth forecast from the original forecast of 6-8 percent down to 4% to 5%.

IDC added that it expects PC demand in Japan next year to return to the level before the earthquake.
