An active volcano on Kamchatka Peninsula in the Far East of Russia is currently spewing plumes of ash at a height of up to 9 km, local media reported on Wednesday.
Scientists have registered two strong eruptions of the Shiveluch volcano in the last 24 hours.
The 3,283-meter volcano increased activity in May 2009 and periodically spews ash from three to eight km.
Clouds of volcanic ash could pose threat to air traffic because the tiny particles can cause problems with aircraft engine turbines.
There are more than 150 volcanoes on Kamchatka, and 29 of them are active.
