Spanish King Juan Carlos will undergo a minor knee surgery in June, the Spanish Royal Palace said Tuesday.
King Carlos will have the operation on his right knee in the first half of next month to help resolve some mobility problems caused by "old sporting injuries," which the Royal Palace said, "complicate his usual physical activity."
It will be the second operation that the 73-year-old king has undergone in the past 15 months, although this surgery is much less serious than that he had in April 2010 to remove a nodule from his right lung.
The benign nodule had been discovered during the king's routine annual health check. King Carlos spent 10 days recovering in a hospital in Barcelona.
The Palace confirmed this year's health check-up was "completely satisfactory, and nothing untoward has been found."
