Seychelles president reappoints previous cabinet, promising major reshuffle soon

The National Assembly of Seychelles has, in its first sitting for the second term of this year, unanimously approved the list of seven Cabinet ministers named by freshly re-elected President James Michel.
The ministers, with the exception of one, are all members from the previous administration of President Michel and they have maintained their previous portfolio. The only change in this new cabinet is that former Minister of Land Use and Habitat Jacquelin Dugasse, the longest-serving minister, leaves the government for the private sector. In a press communiqué, the State House said that President Michel who was re-elected with 55.46 percent of the votes on May 21 will make a major cabinet reshuffle soon after completing a thorough review of the government systems and practices.
While in his previous term he tackled almost national issues like economic reforms and defense with the fight against Somali piracy.
President Michel, 67, will devote this one, his last, to tackling quality of life issues like social scourges, cots of living, water shortage and devolution of power to local agencies.
Besides President Michel and Vice President Danny Faure, the seven other members of the Government include two women.
