Uruguay, Brazil hail advances both sides ties

Uruguay's President Jose Mujica and his Brazilian counterpart, Dilma Rousseff, on Monday hailed advances on their countries' cooperation in infrastructure, energy and communications.

In a joint declaration issued after their meeting, both presidents expressed their satisfaction with the development of bilateral trade and reaffirmed their commitment to a "productive integration."

They also emphasized the excellent cooperation potential in biotechnology, wind power, metallurgy, electronics, computer software, diary goods, leather, chemistry, latex, and naval and aeronautic sectors.

Mujica and Rousseff stated the construction of a second bridge over Yaguaron River, which forms part of the Brazil-Uruguay border, is relevant for the region's integration and development.

They also hailed the progress within the construction of a power transmission line of 500 kilowatts between San Carlos of Uruguay and Candiota of Brazil, which will probably be finished in 2013, the statement said.
