he State Aircraft Repair Company "Odesviaremservice," headquartered in Odessa city, southern Ukraine, has developed an improved model of the Dolphin aircraft to be used as an air taxi in Ukraine, local media reported on Tuesday.
Dolphin is a four-seater low-flying plane which can accommodate three passengers and one crew member.
The "air taxi" will offer irregular flight service depending on the availability of passengers, the Ukrainian Ukrinform news agency reported.
Flights will be available only between big cities for the time being, because air-strips in some small towns lack standard runways, according to engineers of the company.
The aircraft can fly 1,350 km without refueling. Powered by diesel, the plane has a fuel consumption of 16 liters per 100 km, with a cost of some 20 U.S. dollars in Ukraine.
Fare for this air taxi will be slightly higher than regular flights. This new service will help businessmen and politicians with their air travel.
Its designers said this new plane is absolutely safe,as all on board will be brought safely to ground by a unique parachute in case of emergency.
