3 Vietnamese illegal immigrants caught after swimming from Macau to Zhuhai

 Three illegal immigrants from Vietnam were apprehended Sunday night within the city of Zhuhai in south China's Guangdong Province following allegedly trying to cross the border by swimming from China's Macao Special Administrative Region, local authorities said Monday.

One of the illegal immigrants said that he was smuggled to Macao in mid-February soon after paying about 10,000 yuan to a smuggler, according to Li Shuiqing, an official from the Border Control Department of Guangdong's Public Security Department.

The illegal immigrants stated they left Macao since of huge workloads and small pay, leading them to attempt to cross the border near Zhuhai to search for better jobs, Li stated.

The 3 are presently becoming held in Zhuhai and is going to be extradited to Vietnam later, Li stated.
