Iran ranks Turkey's biggest oil supplier in Q1

Turkey imported 1.8 million tonnes of oil from Iran in the very first quarter of this year, with Iran becoming its biggest oil supplier, local media reported Monday.

Imports from Iran took up 30 percent of Turkey total oil imports in the initial quarter, followed by 12 percent for Iraq and 11 percent for Russia, the Anatolia news agency cited a report by Turkey's Energy Market Regulation Board as saying.

Turkey imported six million tonnes of oil in the very first quarter, of which four.2 million tonnes was crude oil, 1.four million tonnes was diesel oil and 135,379 tonnes was fuel oil, said the report.

Inside the identical period, Turkey exported two.four million tonnes of oil, primarily to the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Malta and Italy, it said.

Iran is also the second greatest gas supplier of Turkey, which is highly dependent on imported energy.
