Storm causes flight cancellations, delays at Chicago airport

Practically 400 flights were cancelled along with the average delay time had been as much as three hours on Sunday at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport because of a heavy storm, authorities stated.

Heavy rain, high winds and lightning have been pounding Chicago area given that Sunday morning. Although the worst from the storms have passed, heavy raining prompted flood warning across northern Illinois, exactly where Chicago is positioned.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm alert for many with the Chicago area as well as flash flood warnings for counties like Lee, DeKalb and LaSalle.

There are also delays at Midway International, the other main airport in Chicago area.
