Mexico declares progress in FTA talks with C. America

Mexico mentioned Sunday the fifth round of negotiations for forming a single free trade agreement (FTA) with Central America ended with critical progress on several issues

The most prominent achievements had been made on concerns including market place access, the ease from the trade as well as the technical obstacles to trade, the Economic Ministry said in a statement.

There had been also significant progress on trade mark, trade defense, government purchases and solution of trade variations.

The sixth round of the talks might be held in August in El Salvador, the ministry said.

Mexico currently has FTAs with Costa Rica, Nicaragua plus the so-called Triangle from the North which consists of Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador.The present talks was aimed at eastabishing a single FTA area with Mexico plus the whole Central America.

Of the 50 billion dollars of Central America's annual exports, only 8 percent go to Mexico, suggesting that there exists good possible for expanding trade relations among the two sides.
