5.4-magnitude quake hits New Britain region, Papua New Guinea -- USGS

An earthquake measuring five.four on the Richter scale jolted New Britain region, Papua New Guinea five:33 p.m. local time (07:33:13 GMT) on Sunday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 113.00 km, was initially determined to be at five.8344 degrees south latitude and 149.3044 degrees east longitude.

The epicenter is some 464 km northeast of Port Moresby, the capital of Papua New Guinea.

So far there had been no instant reports of casualties or property harm.
