Israeli, Palestinian presidents secretly meet to resume peace talks: report

Israeli President Shimon Peres and Palestinian National Authority President Mahmoud Abbas allegedly held secret talks meant to reach a system that would enable the stalled peace procedure to resume, plus the Palestinians to abort efforts to unilaterally seek United Nations recognition of statehood in September.

The negotiations among Peres and Abbas had been "real, prolonged and confidential," Israeli everyday Ma'ariv reported on Sunday.
