5.9-magnitude shallow-depth quake hits off Sumatra, Indonesia: USGS

An earthquake measuring five.9 on the Richter scale jolted southwest of Sumatra, Indonesia at 1824 GMT on Sunday (02:24 Beijing Time Monday), the U.S. Geological Survey mentioned.

The epicenter, having a depth of 9.50 km, was initially determined to be at 7.7506 degrees south latitude and 101.7467 degrees east longitude.
