Meeting, held in Egypt was originally announced, to switch to Japanese, as unrest in the North African countries.
"Japan was selected as the 2012 annual meeting in Egypt in alternative locations to replace the original host," the IMF said in a statement. "In view of recent developments in Egypt, the Egyptian authorities had asked to host the next annual meeting in a foreign country, which will be discussed by the Executive Board in the near future."
International financial institutions in Washington, brothers and sisters for the discussion of international economic and financial development, inclusive and policies to strengthen economic growth and helping countries overcome poverty.
They provide a forum for international cooperation, the IMF and the World Bank to better serve the 187 Member States.
Last month, the Japanese government announced its intention to host the International Monetary Fund and World Bank annual meeting in Tokyo next year.
Japan's finance minister Noda Yan said the meeting would be a perfect opportunity to show the world from Japan to disaster recovery from the participants.
