Risks of mobile phones may cause cancer
A scientific panel of international experts said, the phone should be considered as possible causes of brain tumors, according to media reports Tuesday.World Health Organization (WHO) issued a press release, last week announced that its international Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) is divided into wireless phones emit radio frequency electromagnetic fields may be carcinogenic.
The announcement came as a working group of 31 scientists from around the world met in Lyon, France, this week to determine whether mobile phone emissions may cause cancer.
They have been identified, there is a glioma, the type of malignant brain tumors, which appears to be an increased risk with cell phone use.
Although the Working Group noted that at least one previous study found that forty percent increased risk of brain cancer among cell phone users who talked on the phone, at least 30 minutes a day for 10 years.
Classified as "potentially carcinogenic" agents does not mean they automatically lead to cancer and some experts said the ruling should not change people's phone habits.
"We found some threads of evidence tells us how likely cancer, but there are also recognition of gaps and uncertainties," said Jonathan Samet, chairman of the group.
Some experts recommend that people use a headset or handset, mobile phone if they are worried about the possible health hazards.
The working group's report will be published in the July 1 issue The Lancet Oncology.
