South Korea voices support for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon's re-election

Welcome to South Korea Tuesday for a second five-year, as the United Nations, former Foreign Minister of the major long-term bid.

"The Government welcomes and supports the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon's re-election," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

"The government spoke highly of the Secretary-General's peace and prosperity of the world's great contribution, because he took office in 2007."

The 66-year-old diplomat, who is South Korean Minister of Foreign Affairs 2004-2006, January 2007 succeeded in five-year term, and this is the end of this year, the United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan. He announced Monday that he as a candidate.

For a successful re-election, Ban Ki-moon needs, and so on, all five permanent members of the support of the UN Security Council - Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States.
